The Sydney Radio Control Off Road Car Club Inc. track is in the grounds of Blenheim Park, Blenheim Road, North Ryde, below Tennis World Courts, Epping Road. The club began in 1982 by 2 people who bought radio control cars, found an unused piece of land in Delhi Park and had a race. This club is a financial member of the 1/10th Electric State Association: A.A.R.C.M.C.C. Affiliation to this association means our members can compete at any Club, State or National Championships throughout Australia. ![]() The hobby has grown so much in the last 24 years that it can no longer be classed as a hobby, it is a very competitive sport. 1/10th scale electric radio control off road racing has competitors all over Australia competing together to expand our sport. Powered by an electric motor these buggies are capable of real speeds of 50 to 60 km/h. Race time is 6 minutes plus the time it takes to complete the final lap. The cars carry a small transponder for lap scoring. As a car passes over the transponder loop, the transponder number is registered on the computer. At the end of the race, the driver with the most amount of laps is the winner. For details of the rules and specifications click here. At race meetings drivers will contest two rounds of qualifying and three finals, their best lap score in qualifying determines grid positions for the final and a maximum of 10 drivers compete in each final. Twilight race meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month with registration from 2:00pm and racing from 3:00pm. Meetings can be held under lights. Sunday meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month with registration from 9:00am and racing from 10:00am. The track is open for practice for the use of any 1/10th electric off road vehicle only. The track is closed to public access when track maintenance is being carried out and when a club race meeting is being held. Whilst using the track, please respect the neighbours and limit the amount of excess disturbance by driving on the track in a proficient manner, as if you were a member of the club. Please also understand that the track is a public facility and therefore anybody of any skill level is able to and welcome to use the track, so please be careful when sharing the track with children and beginners. The use of 1/10th Nitro / Petrol powered vehicles or 1/8th scale vehicles is not permitted on the Blenheim Park Race track, reasons: Ryde City Council regulation as the noise interferes with the neighbourhood and Ryde City Council does not supply any funding to the upkeep of this Off Road facility; it is completely funded by the Ryde Club Members. Should you be reported to Council they may apply hefty fines. The carpark is also out of bounds as there are many young children in the area. Entry costs $10.00 for members of affiliated clubs. Entering a second class is $5.00. Online entries are now available to interested racers. Your first race meeting at the club is free. |
