2012 Ryde Open and SCT Championships. On January 28th and 29th the Ryde Open and Short Course Championships are on again and like last year's event this will be an awesome weekend of go fast buggies and close quarter short course racing. Last year's event was one of the biggest turn-outs we've seen at Ryde and this year is looking to be the same again. The Short Course Championships is the opportunity for all the SCT drivers out there to have their own dedicated day of SCT racing; all the classes are catered for Pro-2 (10.5 blinky mode and 13.5 boosted), Pro-2 Mod (put whatever you want in there), Pro-4 (4WD SCT) and Box Stock for anyone who got a RTR SCT for Xmas and wants to give it some race time before they start changing over all the electronics. This was a huge day last year with drivers coming from all over the place and really helps to show the popularity of this booming class. For those of you unfamiliar with the concept of the Ryde Open it's basically the same as a normal buggy meet except that you are able to race with whatever motor you think is best suited to the track and your style. So if you think you're most competitive with a 2.5T motor with boost in a 2WD buggy then go for it, but in the same race there might be someone running a 21.5T with now boost because they think that slow and steady wins the day, it's up to you. This was a great format last year and saw some really interesting results in all the classes. For more information go to: 2012 Racing Calendar The 2012 Calendar will be ready by the end of January, we are still waiting to confirm some dates.
Some Changes to General Club Racing Rules.
- Lipo (7.4V) now legal in all classes. They do not need to be ROAR legal but must be hard case. Lipo sacks must still be used. - All 1/10 540 based brushless motor systems are legal to run in mod classes. So this includes Mamba / Traxxas and many other RTR systems that were not deemed to be legal previously. - 13.5 BL motors will not be legal in stock from now on, but are ok for mod. Brushless stock motors are 17.5T only.
New Short Course Rules for 2010.
There have been some changes to the Short Course rules which we have added to the rules on the Downloads page: - There are now three classes, Box Stock, Pro 2 and Pro 4. - Box Stock is any comercially available 2wd short course rtr vehicle (or kit made to rtr spec). Only radio, battery, battery/motor conectors and shock oil can be altered. This class is intended for use only during major events. - Pro 2 is basically the old 13.5 Class and is open to all 2WD Short Course Racing type trucks such as Traxxas Slash and SC10, motor limit of 13.5T brushless and tyres are limited to those specifically made for Short Course trucks. - Pro 4 is an "Open" class for 4WD and modified motor Short Course Racing type trucks. - Hard case LiPo's are acceptable in all classes. If batteries are not ROAR approved then they need to be passed by the race director. Race competition classes Stock Class17.5 brushless and 27 Turn Stock brushed motors. Modified Class.Any brushless or brushed motor can be used. |
